Not really a report; however, suffice to say, I swam a bit, cycled a bit and ran a bit.
Team Rees Hughes performed awesomely well and it was fab to see them out on the course; Shaggy - looks like you were right to refuse a marmite butty, even if I did bust my guts to catch up with you!
I didn't notice many WTC supporters, but thanks goes to those that did cheer me on - as many of us know, it can be a tough old day out there and any encouragement is always well received.
Thanks also goes to the Club members who supported and encouraged me on my path to Roth - especially Bupa for his invaluable run coaching. Seems there may be some surprise at my finish time... not sure whether to be flattered or insulted....

Turns out there's something to be said for this training lark, eh? But don't mistake "fast" for "easy".
Of the three IM distance events I have done, this was by far the best - the organisation was fantastic, the atmosphere was amazing and as I stayed to the end to see the last of my friends in, I saw the fireworks and sparklers at the closing ceremony - and it was a ceremony! I'd recommend a Challenge event over an Ironman brand any day, having done both.
Lessons learnt:
* Don't pitch your tent on top of an area that a mole inhabits... He WILL try to break through the groundsheet on several occasions!
* Wasps don't like getting trapped behind your sunglasses. Or in your shorts (that was a friend's experience, not mine!)
* Roth is not flat. In fact, the bike is quite bumpy. As is the run!
* Germans like being as naked as they can be, at any given time.
* They also like pitching tents or parking motor homes on top of their neighbours. To avoid this they stake out their own area with hazard tape!
* I can projectile vomit. Who knew???
