Dad Doing Celtman

Postby Doonhamer » Sat Jun 23, 2012 8:19 am

CELTMAN! Extreme Scottish Triathlon is a race only crazy people would enter, which means the race has to find 150(ish) people crazy enough to do it. Unfortunately, my Dad is one of them, which meant that the last few months he's been training extremely hard for this race and has been super grumpy as well. Grumpier than usual, that may be hard to believe but its true! He's also been taking the car quite a bit to go swimming or whatever, this has restrained me from doing important stuff like you know, shopping!
Anyway back to the race itself, the Swims 3.8K in Loch Shieldaig(Cold!!), the Bike course is 200K and the Run at the end is 42K, going over two Munros! At the end of the race if you don't make to the second Munro by a certain time(it is the highest point on the main ridge itself), and stands at a height of 993m, than you'll be asked to run round a different countryside route and you'll get a white T-shirt at the finish. But if you manage to get there by a certain time and go up this big mountain, well then you'll be an official winner and finisher and you get a blue T-shirt you can wear with pride! :D

Breaking News!! Dad's swim started at 5:00 and he got out of the Swim at 5:55. Now don't go thinking that he is a super awesome swimmmer and that you still can't beat him, like usual, in a swimming pool, before i tell you that the Swim was cut short because the water was too cold! :) More updates will be up whenever i get more news!

Hello again, I got a text while i was out, yes i do have a life outside of posting things on here for my dad, and he passed the 40 mile point at 9:25! My nan has been doing some calculations and says he should be out for another 6 hours but she only gave him 5 minutes for each transition, which is very unlikely and this probably inacurrate with my nans overall experience being 0!! :D

I'm Back!! Everyone out there in Torridon seems to forgot all about me until about half an hour ago when i was informed that he is about 15th and is doing a very hilly part of the run with Huw, still not sure if hes made it to the second Munro yet!! Looks like he's already got himself a present for when he gets first place though, as a package came to the door today with 5 pairs of trainers!!! Got to say it he's not doing to bad for a man in his mid life crisis!!!

You'd better do it today, because there might not be a chance to do it tomorrow.
