RUN

Wednesday night is our club’s track night. This is a coached session which takes place each Wednesday at 6:00pm at the Queensway running track. The sessions typically involve a warm up, some drills, a main set and a cool down. The main sets typically involve repetitions of 200m-1600m depending on the focus of the session. The good thing about a track session is that you cannot get left behind which allows top athletes and beginners to train in the same place at the same time.

Group runs are ad-hoc in nature and organised through the club’s Facebook page.

The club enters teams in the Border’s League (road running) and the North Wales Cross Country League. These take place between October and April. Both of these leagues are team competitions with clubs being scored on how well their ‘counters’ place. The events are a great opportunity for members to race for the club and truly feel part of a team. They are also a great chance for members to keep a little competitive edge / focus in their training over the winter.

Club members often take place in running races outside of these series. Fell races are very popular among members and there are many to choose from around North Wales! There are also a large number of road races in the local area, from 5km up to marathon distance, which are usually well attended by club members.

Our local park run takes place in the grounds of Erddig hall and is attended by a handful of members most weeks. The run is mostly off road and can get muddy! Our regular attendees will also often support the run by volunteering.
